Our dream home...

Almost... if ANY bank will give us a mortgage on it... I mean, what's the risk in an unfinished log home with wood heat? HAHAHAHAHA

Actually, not that funny.

Oh yeah, and it needs a new floor. Here's the mls link.

Ohhh, nice place, I love homes like that. Makes me think of Laura Ingals days :o) Course I would want the modern day amenities :o)

The place looks lovely!! Keep hunting for that company-we had a hard time getting our house insured (without insurance no mortgage!) because our electrical was out of date. Eventually I found a company that said they'd cover us, provided I had someone come in right away (which of course I was planning to do!), but they wanted a quote faxed to them first, and a receipt when it was finished to prove it was done. It was some hassle to find that company tho, since only one company gave me a hint/referral where to look. Good luck!

We had no trouble getting in$$$$$urance. We are going to have 'electric heat as primary' and wood as backup (guffaw).

The banks just hate the property because it's a big risk apparently because something seems fishy eh

... when a house is 30 years old and is still listed as 'unfinished' (because the floor is shot).

Dave said we should ask Phil to do some risk analysis on it :P . Dads friend Weaker tenVeen built the place and it's pretty solid (except the floor which had boards and then vapor barrier ON TOP of them so they rotted away nicely on the dirt. We are going to pour a slab).

So here's hoping on BV Credit Union to be nice to us since we've done everything under the sun that they have asked: fire insurance, water test, appraisal, environmental assessment, inspection, quotes for floor, kitchen and new bathroom.... Just waiting to see what else they can come up with so we can sink in a little deeper.

Oh and RBC, First National, and a couple other banks have already said 'no' outright.

Just keep spending your time with Credit Union-they won't want to have "wasted their time" on clients that they don't end up making any money on. They've invested lots of time into you already. Just be persistent and they should follow through eventually, after all, they DO want your business!

Phil would probably say that you guys are pretty likely to default, being unreliable clients, but he has the inside scoop after all. :p Since he doesn't specialize in rating individual clients risk, they won't listen to him anyways (good thing!).

Well they're not wasting too much time. Just sending us an email every weeks saying: "we require a ____ test".

We shallllll seeeee
